Remote Assistance
Helper
Windows XP includes 2 very useful tools, Remote Assistance and Remote
Desktop, for providing remote assistance and control of machines.
What they are lacking is an easy way to keep track of the machines that
need the support. Until now, you had to either know the machine name
or look it up when it became necessary to connect to the remote desktop.
Remote Assistance Helper was created to eliminate the need to keep
track of each name by presenting the IT professional with a real-time list
of machines that are available on the Domain or Workgroup. Just
select a machine from the list and choose either Remote Assistance or
Remote Desktop to be automatically connected to the remote machine.
In addition to remote control there is also a Management TAB for remote
administration and information gathering. There are functions to
RESTART, SHUTDOWN, Open Remote Shares, Manage and get a System Information
report on the Remote PC. Click
HERE to see a sample of the
report.
Remote Assistance Helper is designed for the
individual or small business and as such is limited to support of 25
machines.
